Everyone has some sort of body image challenge that they have faced at some point in their life. Navigating body image while living with chronic illness can increase those challenges exponentially. Chronic illness can bring on many changes in the body. Illnesses impact body appearance, body function, body performance, body weight and more. With all those changes, it can feel overwhelming to be in a body that feels unfamiliar or out of your control, due to chronic illness. It’s no wonder that many people living with chronic illness often struggle with lowered self-esteem, negative body image, and depression.
I understand how it is to feel uncomfortable in your own skin or at war with your own body, due to chronic illness. I was diagnosed in 1997 with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and I have been living with the chronic illness since then. PCOS definitely impacted my body image and body relationship and in this podcast interview with Summer Innanen of Fearless Rebel Radio, I share how I learned to manage the challenges of living with a chronic illness. I explain how I went from body war and hate to body peace and love, one breath at a time. Click the image below to hear the interview. After listening, leave your comments here or on social media to let me know if you can relate to anything that I shared.
